How much?

It all depends on how much you love cinema, how important for you to have a good picture and good sound in a movie, and what budget you are willing to allocate for this.

Now, to get good sound from the TV it’s enough to install a good soundbar with a subwoofer — and you can add rear speakers. It will give good, loud sound and will fill your space. It won’t be high-tech, precise sound like real Dolby Atmos systems, but it could be ideal for the living room or any other area where you usually watch TV shows or sports and sometimes movies.

For a game room or dedicated home theater room, you need to start with at least a 5.1 surround sound system.

If you want a bigger display, you need to organize a projector and a screen system. The projector could be one of the bestsellers, such as the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB ~$2500, and the Severtson 100″ screen for $1100.

So you get a mid-range system with a budget of around $4500–6000 for the equipment.

A higher-level system with additional speakers for Dolby Atmos, with sound from Martin Logan or KEF and a better projector from Epson or JVC, can cost $10,000–15,000 just for equipment.

If your budget is really limited, you can go much lower with Polk Audio or Proficient Audio speakers, an entry-level AV receiver from Onkyo or Yamaha, an entry-level projector, and a cheap screen from Amazon. Such a system could cost you around $3000.

You can look at this article to find out how much a Dolby Atmos system can cost.
